Triggers of Grief

September 21, 2016 By Nathalie Himmelrich Leave a Comment

Balloons by Nathalie HimmelrichThis morning the school of my daughter celebrated the new Kindergarten kids with wishes from each class, a speech from the school principal and a balloon release. I was looking forward to this, given my daughter is very fond of balloons and it was a beautiful morning.
As they let the balloons go, my heart remembered… and cracked a little bit… remembering the last time we followed balloons traveling into the sky… exactly 5 years ago at the celebration of life for A’Mya, my daughter who had passed away. These are the little signs that this loss is still felt. The loss of a child is a lifelong story to carry.
